How and when did you fall in love with the game? I started playing the game in 1986 when I joined the Army, but didn’t really fall in love with it until 1993 when I met Ken Lewis, we were stationed in the 2 nd Infantry Division together. I have had lessons from PBIA Instructor Ken Lewis in 1993 while we were still in the Army. Receiving a phone call from a student with excitement in their voice because they accomplished something special to them is what it is all about. It is really satisfying to watch a student’s game grow after they have applied what they were taught. What do you like about instructing? I enjoy teaching students at all levels. Initially, watching players in the pool hall at the bowling lanes where my mom worked when I was young.Īccomplishments: Professional instructor since OCT 2015 I won the 8 th Army 9-ball in 2004 going undefeated in all of the qualifying events. I also studied with and learned a lot from Jerry Briesath, Tom Simpson, and Randy Goettlicher. Who taught you how to play? Everybody I have watched and played with over 50 years. Also, learning something new with every student concerning how to be a more effective teacher. What do you like about instructing? Helping a student find a path that lets him or her maximize their potential.
